Hickory Ridge Great Clips a Cut Above the Rest in Record Year

In what was a successful fundraising year at Great Clips locations within our region and across the nation, the local Hickory Ridge salon came out a cut above the rest. With manager April Wallace at the helm, the salon raised nearly $10,000 for Levine Children’s Hospital in 2017, making it the top fundraiser of all Great Clips nationwide for the second year in a row.

Records within our region were not limited to Hickory Ridge. Every Great Clips salon in our area took part in this fundraising event, an unprecedented level of participation within the community. Raising just under $50,000 total, the 80 local salons were led in their efforts by Jim Bullard, regional co-op president. Funds donated came from Children’s Miracle Network icon balloons sold at Great Clips locations during the month of October.

Though the Hickory Ridge Great Clips did participate in the balloon sales, the local salon raised money through other events as well, holding a Splatterday Night Frights Haunted House, a charity poker run and a Miss Hickory Ridge beauty pageant. Salon manager April and her employees even hosted a benefit carnival to raise money for an area Miracle Kid who was hospitalized for eight months awaiting a heart transplant.

For her steadfast support of our community’s children, April is the Levine Children’s Hospital nominee for the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals’ Local Corporate Person of the Year. Whatever the results of the nomination, April sees no end in sights for her salon’s fundraising efforts. She is already planning big events for this October, with a goal of raising more than $10,000.
